Mascot Madness

The end of summer is almost upon us (although most people in the UK wouldn’t have known it had ever happened). Over the last few months we’ve had promotions aplenty with half price credits, double membership and two for one promotions.

However, now that summer is coming to an end, that does not mean all that s good has left the world.  While students return to their studies and the morning traffic once again turns to madness, we’re happy to announce that we’ll be continuing with the promotions to keep the joy flowing in Football Superstars.

This week we’re keeping it simple and fun, with the first of our item specific promotions. Until Wednesday 14th September, all mascot suits will be half price! Simply head over to the Shades store and pick your team mascot suit of choice.

So if your dinner jacket is looking a little tattered, or your grey tracksuit just isn’t cutting it anymore, go wild and grab something a little more fun.

Keep your eyes on the news in the days and weeks to come for news of more item specific promotions so you can pick yourself up a bargain.

Half price credits - making the world a better place

Anarchy in the UK! The threat of more econonmic woes! A summer that is doing an excellent impression of winter!

It’s been a dramatic few weeks with more yet to come, but rest assured that Football Superstars is always there to help ease the stress of a world on the edge of madness.

What’s more, we’re doing our part to help a struggling economy by offering half price on credit purchases from 23:59 on Monday 15th!

We’ll be holding off the bankers with pointy sticks so we can keep this offer open for as long as we can, but make sure you take advantage of it while it lasts and stock up on your credits.

Remember that this offer is only available for purchases made using Paypal or Credit Card.

Take a look at this video and tell me what is special about it?  Anyone?

Every single player on that pitch is AI.  Yes folks, this is the first look at the new AI that the development team have been working on.  While we’ve had rudimentary AI in the game for a while now, in the form of the practice matches, this expands on it allowing AI players to be used on 5, 7 and 11 a side games with the players being able to manage far more.

This can then be put to all sorts of uses, not least of which being the chance for PMCs to finally practice as a team, testing formations and tactics without depending on another club.

While this is just a rough early video to whet your appetites, we’ll get you more videos and details in the days ahead. :)

This week’s Open League

Due to unforeseen circumstances (someone forgot to feed the hamsters) this week’s Open League will have to be postponed as the Tournament System will be out of commission for a couple of days.

As such, on Friday the events will go up and, I’m sorry to say, you will need to sign up anew if you wish your team to take part.  I will then have the leagues kick off on Sunday morning, giving Friday and Saturday for sign ups.

Many apologies for the inconvenience.

Patch: 28/07/11

We had a small patch this morning to fix a couple of known issues from yesterday’s deployment.  This included:

  • A fix for the chat problem that some players had experienced which locked their controls,
  • The return of the bar on equipped items to show their charges
  • Fix for language selection

New patch! Player Profiles! Stamina Burn!

The new game patch is now live! This patch includes a number of changes, but two of the biggest are the changes to Stamina burn and the new Player Profiles

PLAYER PROFILES

When you look at your inventory, you will now see the option to “Go Pro.”

This allows you to purchase three new match setup profiles. These three profiles relate to defence, midfield and attack, and you can equip items and skills to these profiles which will give you the best benefits in that area.

When you enter a match, the game will know which position you are in and then select your items accordingly.

Important points

  • Equipping an item to a profile does not remove it from your inventory.  So you can equip the same item to all three profiles if you wish.
  • If you Go Pro, make sure you set up each of your profiles, even if it is with the same items, otherwise you might find yourself walking onto the pitch without any boots on!
  • Durability works as normal so keep that in mind when if you equip one item to multiple profiles.

STAMINA BURN

Professional footballers are a fit bunch.  They are pro athletes and they’ve trained to be able to work at peak performance for an entire match. However, even the very best will soon tire if they push themselves beyond their limits.

As such, there is a slight change to your stamina bar. If you sprint to the very end of your stamina bar, then you are pushing yourself beyond your limits and will suffer a small penalty and will lose a small percentage of your max stamina for the match. Each time you sprint until your stamina is drained you will lose a small percentage.  33% of what you lose is refreshed at half time.

So, if you’re somewhat heavy handed on the sprint button, then make sure you keep an eye on your stamina bar or you may soon find yourself with only half the stamina you had at the start of the game!

Important Points

  • You will never lose all of your stamina.  The penalty is always a percentage of the stamina you have available, so you will never be able to lose all of your stamina for a match.
  • Only draining your stamina bar by sprinting will apply a penalty.  Running with the ball or skill usage won’t have any effect other than to drain your stamina as normal.

The full features from this patch include:

  • The ability to disable the football feedback (shift M) - this is in response to forum feedback regarding performance issues when these slide across the screen.
  • Bug fix for mini offside flag being seen in top left hand corner of the screen on sub in.
  • Stamina burn cost - If you sprint your player so that he cannot sprint anymore then this will cost you a small percentage off the top of your energy pool. This will replenish 33% at half time.
  • Bug fix for players subbed on after another player had been red carded that was causing that player’s name to be displayed red.
  • Bug fix for voted off player’s name remaining on the screen.
  • Keepers more likely to distribute long now - this is in response to forum feedback.
  • Player profiles - purchasable functionality that will let you set up your character items and skills for defence/midfield and forward.

Game Patch

Please note that the game will be offline from 5am GMT on Tuesday morning, July 26th.  This is for a game patch which will bring the new player positional profiles, in-match interface options as well as some essential technical fixes.

Full release notes will be available once the game patching is complete.
