Striker Superstars - The new game from CyberSports

Striker Superstars!

CyberSports are proud to announce the imminent release of Striker Superstars, their new browser-based football game. Utilising the Unity game engine, Striker Superstars will allow you to log on from anywhere and play, as well as giving Mac users a chance to get in on the Superstars action, yes you heard it right this game is both PC & Mac compatible.

Gameplay

Gamers play against and alongside strangers or friends in fast paced five a side football action.  If they register their account they will be able to develop their character by training their stats, equipping items and unlocking achievements through their performance on  pitch. These achievements reward the player with far more than bragging rights and a pretty graphic.  Each time a player unlocks an achievement they receive a token which can then be used to upgrade any of the items in their inventory.

The game uses the current 5 a-side match engine from Football Superstars, but has been adapted it to work outside of the FS game client and allow for immediate and highly accessible gameplay.

Accessibility

One of the greatest benefits of the new game is that it greatly enhances accessibility.  There is no big client to download and install.  Technical requirements are so minimal that practically anyone with a computer and an internet connection will be able to play and what’s more you don’t even have to register!  New players can log in as a guest and experience match play within seconds, but if you wish to chat with your fellow players and save your character’s progression then you’ll need to register an account.

Two Games, One Family

The release of Striker Superstars does not signify a departure from Football Superstars. To the contrary Striker Superstars is there to complement Football Superstars, not replace it. Players who want to take their experience further and experience larger matches of 7 and 11 a-side, as well as joining persistent Player Managed Clubs can only do so via Football Superstars, which remains the primary game.  Meanwhile, players of Football Superstars will be able to jump on and play with friends who would not otherwise be able to take part and grab some quick games during free time or a lunch break.

Getting Involved

Registrations are now open for the BETA test sessions and you can sign up here. We’ll then be selecting people to take part in the test sessions over the coming weeks.

Taking it to the next (membership) level

A new year, and it’s time for change.

We’ve been mentioning for a while about the changes coming to the membership system in 2011, and I’m now able to give you a few details about what it will entail.

Put simply, we will be waving goodbye to recurring subscriptions.  All ongoing subscriptions will be cancelled without penalty to the account and everyone will be moved onto the new membership tier.

“What are the membership tiers?” I hear you cry.  Allow me to explain.

There are five tiers of membership; Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond.  If a player has spent £5 on Football Superstars then they are moved up to Bronze tier.  If their total spend goes up to £25 then they would move up to Silver tier and so on. Below you can see a breakdown of the tiers and associated benefits.

This takes into account the total spend of a player up to now and into the future, including bond/credit purchases and subscriptions. So if you have spent  £30 on a recurring subscription before now and a further £25 on Credit purchases then this will be added together to give a total investment of £55 and thus you will be set to Gold tier when the changeover happens.  Any further investment will be added on top of that. Lifetime Subscriptions which were purchased last year will be given a value of £50.

You’ll be able to check your membership status at any time from the My Account section of the website.

The membership tiers do not degrade.  Therefore you could spend £5 and be moved up to Bronze tier and will remain there even if you never spend another penny.  On top of this, there will be no membership restriction on the owning or running of a PMC.

So check out the new membership tiers below.  This is something that we look forward to expanding on with the upgrade to the way items will work within the game and some of the other new features we have brewing away.  I look forward to giving some more news on that in the days to come.

The FS Annual Community Awards

As December tightens it’s icy grip it reminds us that the end of the year is nigh.  At such times it is common to look back on the months that have passed and think on what we have learned, who we have met and what mark they have left on us.

In FS we do this in a rather special way via the FS Community Awards.  The awards are your chance to recognise those players who have really stood out in your eyes.  Not always for a great reason, it has to be said.  Categories include Defender of the year, Young Star Player of the Year, Manager of the year and PMC of the year.  All very nice and wholesome.  They also include a series of special recognition awards such as The Steve Claridge I’ve had More PMCs Than Hot Breakfasts award, as well as the Best Excuse for a Poor Game award.

All of the nominations come from you, the players and then a shortlist will be generated for you to vote on.

To have your say and put forward your candidates head over to the forums and check out the awards.
